HISTORY AND CULTURE

Celebrate Puerto Rican culture and heritage with nearby attractions in San Juan that are easy to get to and impossible to forget.

District of Old San Juan: Our historic colonial city, where Spanish heritage from more than 400 years ago is alive and well today. Be sure to explore the “walled city,” from the forts north of the city to the store-lined and restaurant filled streets all the way south to the piers.

Luis A Ferré Performing Arts Center: Be sure to ask us about any cultural events happening at “Centro de Bellas Artes.” Your favorite ballet or opera might just be in town, or you might discover a newfound cultural gem.

Bacardí Rum Distillery: Puerto Rico is the rum capital of the world and the Bacardi Rum Distillery is why. This informative (and tasty) tour provides a glimpse of a centuries old and proud tradition.

Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico: Among the most magnificent collections of art from Puerto Rican masters are housed here. And don’t miss its majestic gardens. Uniquely landscaped and meticulously maintained, the gardens themselves are works of art.

NATURE AND ADVENTURE

Surrounded by the bountiful sea, the island of Puerto Rico hosts unique natural wonders, from the ocean that sustains us to the rich mountains presiding over us. Choose from our helicopter tours and discover why Puerto Rico is known as the Island of Enchantment, or enjoy a Luxury Yacht Experience like no other.

El Yunque Rainforest: The El Yunque Rainforest -- a cool, mountainous, subtropical area -- is home to many unique species of flora and fauna. Explore its many trails and waterfalls, and if you’re game to hike to the mountain’s peak you can catch a glimpse of the entire eastern coast of Puerto Rico.

Toro Negro and Toro Verde: These mesmerizing mountain peaks are among the tallest on the island. You can choose how to experience them, from a traditional hike or overnight camping stay to a more adrenaline-fueled adventure of rappelling or even zip-lining down the steep mountainside.

Bioluminescent bays: There are few bioluminescent bays in the world and Puerto Rico features three of them. This unique bay contains some 720,000 single-celled bioluminescent dinoflagellates per gallon of water. These half-plant, half-animal organisms emit a flash of bluish light when agitated at night. The high concentration of these creatures (Pyrodimiumbahamense) can create enough light to read a book.

Diving or snorkeling: Our tropical island surroundings are rich in marine wildlife and complex reef ecosystems and a diving excursion is a unique way to experience the ocean’s riches firsthand. For a satisfying but less physically demanding experience, snorkeling among the many shallow reefs is a perfect option.

SAN JUAN BEACHES

Visit some of the most relaxing and picture perfect beaches in Puerto Rico, as we are, after all, an island in the Caribbean.

Condado and Ocean Park Beach: Adjacent to our splendid entrance, these are the beaches where San Juan locals come to relax and mingle during the weekends. Share a cocktail and light snack while basking under the blue skies, just steps away from your room.

Luquillo Beach: This beautiful and popular beach on the east coast of San Juan is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the waves after a morning of exploring the nearby rainforest.

Flamenco Beach: Located in the island municipality of Culebra, this picture perfect white sand and turquoise-water beach is the epitome Caribbean beauty.

SPORTS

From professional golf courses to almost any water sport imaginable, Puerto Rico keeps you on top of your game.

Bahia Beach Golf course: Our sister property, the Bahia Beach Resort in Rio Grande, offers world - class play just 30 minutes away. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed course offers scenic faiways and impressive greens along the ocean, while providing challenging variety. Out concierge will accomodate your preferred tee time and transportation to Bahia Beach.

Wind and kite surfing: San Juan sports some of the best beaches for wind and kite surfing, for any level and ability. Inquire about these exciting water sports, as you will surely see sails and kites in the horizon from your room or while walking our beaches.

Deep sea fishing in San Juan: You are just blocks from San Juan’s main nautical club, where experienced captains head out daily to practice this elite sport. Hop a boat and head to deep water, and you could find a feisty marlin on the other end of your fishing line. If you catch a snapper, the captain just might grill it for you on the boat.
